Rank Intelligence Engine: 30 Years of SEO Judgment, 23 Specialized Analyses, One WordPress Website

Rank Intelligence Engine is the system behind every engagement at AI Search Engine Optimization. It examines a WordPress website the way Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews examine it, decides what has to change for the site to rank and be cited, and then makes those changes and verifies them.

Built from 30 years of daily SEO work by Phil Belleville. Twenty-three specialized analysis and implementation capabilities. Applied to your website, not to a template.

Why it exists

A search engine no longer decides alone

Ten years ago a website had one judge. Today it has several. Google ranks pages and now writes its own answers in AI Overviews and AI Mode. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot read the same pages, resolve the same business into an entity, and decide whether to name it when a buyer asks for a recommendation. Each of those systems weighs a different mix of the same evidence: how clearly the business is identified, how deeply the site covers its subject, whether the expertise can be verified, whether the answer a buyer needs sits in a block a machine can lift, and whether other sources already vouch for the business.

Most SEO work still examines one or two of those signals. Rank Intelligence Engine examines all of them, in a fixed order, against the competitors that already rank, and then carries the result into the website. That is the difference between a report and a result. Phil Belleville built the system from 30 years of daily SEO work, beginning in 1995, and he leads every engagement personally. The specialized analyses run at a depth no manual process reaches; his judgment decides what each finding means for your business and what to do first.

Step 01

Intelligence: know the market, the winners and the record before touching a page

The first step produces the facts every later decision rests on. Nothing is assumed. Six analyses run before a keyword is assigned or a sentence is written, and each one leaves you with something you can read and use.

One page, one purpose: the site keyword map

Every search a business could win is measured for real demand, difficulty, buyer intent and the kind of page Google currently rewards for it. The map then assigns each search family to exactly one page on your site, decides which cities and services deserve a page of their own, and lists the supporting articles worth writing beneath each money page.

What you receive: a plain list of every page the site should have, the search it owns, and why. No two pages on your WordPress site ever compete for the same search, which is the single most common reason a small site’s rankings flip back and forth and never settle.

What the winners are doing: competitor research

The businesses already ranking for your terms are examined page by page: how long their pages are, how they are structured, what evidence they show, which AI platforms they name, how many other sites link to them, and what changed on them recently. The competitive brief also covers positioning, messaging and the offers behind the pages.

What you receive: a measured bar for every money page on your site, so the plan targets what wins in your niche today rather than generic best practice.

Google’s own record of your business: the Knowledge Graph

Google keeps a database of entities it is confident about, and AI answers draw on it when deciding whether a business exists, what it does and where. We pull the public record for your business and for each competitor: whether a record exists, its confidence score, the description Google holds, the types it has assigned and the identifiers it has linked.

What you receive: the gap between your record and the strongest competitor’s, as a set of actions on and off the site. This is the difference between a business ChatGPT or Gemini can name with confidence and one it has never heard of.

The words buyers actually use: prospect psychology

Before a page is written, we research how your prospects describe their problem in their own words: forum threads and social posts from the last thirty days, national reviews across your niche, reviews of your local competitors and reviews of your own business, every quote traceable to its source.

What you receive: the dominant emotional state, the exact phrases that describe the wound and the relief, the objections, and the questions that go unanswered. Pages written from it are recognized instantly by the right prospect, and it is the raw material Perplexity and AI Overviews assemble answers from.

What customers actually say: reviews at volume

Verified review sets are gathered at volume from your business, your competitors and the whole niche, then mined for panic moments, relief signals, urgency phrases and the questions that keep going unanswered. Every quote stays traceable to a real review a person can open.

What you receive: the FAQs, service pages and articles answer the questions people really ask, in the words they ask them, which is the raw material of answer-engine visibility.

The facts about your business, verified

Before any page is built, every fact the engines will read is confirmed: the canonical name and address, services and areas served, licenses and credentials, founder background, the profiles the business controls and the identifiers that connect them. Hostile or conflicting data found across the web is quarantined; anything the web cannot confirm is routed to you.

What you receive: one locked record of the business that every page, every schema node and every profile is built from, so the engines meet the same business everywhere they look.

Step 02

Rank Gap Scan: ten diagnoses, scored against the sites that already rank

The scan is where the depth of the system is most visible. Each diagnosis is scored on its own rubric and against three competitors, so every finding carries both an absolute grade and a verdict on whether the site can dominate its field. The output of every one is a prioritized list in plain English, with the fix named.

Site-wide diagnosis

Every indexed page is examined for the signals Google is known to weigh: crawl and index state, template-level errors, how internal link equity flows, content substance, duplicate intent, over-optimization, structured data, and the access posture toward AI crawlers in robots directives and server headers.

Technical integrity

Whether Google and the AI crawlers can fetch, render and index every page that matters: redirect chains, canonical conflicts, mobile rendering, Core Web Vitals, and the WordPress-specific failure modes that silently drop pages from the index. Nothing you built stays invisible, and speed stops costing rankings.

Expertise and trust a site can prove

The page-level and site-level evidence of first-hand experience, named expertise, authority references and trust markers, scored against the three competitors that already rank so the bar is the real one. Google’s quality guidelines and the AI engines both look for this proof before they rank or cite a business.

Topical depth

What Google associates with an authority in your niche, measured across your whole site and against two or three competitors: which subjects are covered, how deeply, and where the gaps are. A site that clearly knows its subject is the site whose money pages rank and get cited.

Entity clarity

Ten weighted dimensions of whether the engines know who your business is: profile-to-website parity, consistent identity across the web, service depth, review-backed trust, FAQ substance, location coverage, pillar and cluster structure, internal linking, geographic authority and conversion. AI engines require a business to resolve as one verifiable entity before they will name it.

Pages competing with each other

Which of your own pages are switching in and out of Google for the same searches, read from daily ranking history rather than guessed, plus a sweep for indexed pages that never rank at all. Every page involved receives one of four decisions: keep, demote, combine or remove.

How authority flows inside the site

Eighteen checks over every internal link: anchor text, orphan pages, crawl depth, equity flow to the money pages, competing anchors and topical silos, with the pages closest to page one prioritized. Routing a site’s existing authority to the pages that make money is the fastest ranking gain most sites have never taken.

Readiness to be cited by AI

Eleven brand-authority signals and twenty readiness checks across Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, a live probe of each AI crawler’s access to the site, and the same scan run on up to three competitors. A scored answer to whether AI engines can find, read and trust the site, and the shortest path to being cited.

Whether the page makes people act

Twelve dimensions of each money page’s persuasion: attention, clarity, evidence, objection handling and the path to action, scored out of 120, with three alternatives for every weak element, each traced to the buyer language gathered in Step 01. Rankings turn into inquiries.

For businesses that serve an area, a tenth diagnosis covers local visibility: a seven-part audit of the business profile, the map pack, geographic relevance and location content, with a grid diagnostic showing where in the area the business appears and where it does not. See local AI SEO.

Step 03

Authority Build Map: one plan, in the order the work should happen

The scan produces dozens of findings. The map turns them into a sequence a business can approve and a website can absorb. It is explained in plain English so you can see why the first month looks the way it does.

Priorities decided on evidence, not on a checklist

Each finding is weighed by what it costs the business today, how much it moves the site toward the measured bar, and what it depends on. A missing entity record comes before a new page, because the page will not be cited until the business resolves; an internal link repair comes before new content, because it lifts the pages that already exist.

Containment: every page keeps its lane

Before any page is planned, its intended search is checked against every other page on the site. A supporting article never carries a money page’s head term in its title; a city page never takes a service page’s phrase. This is the discipline that lets a site grow to hundreds of pages without the pages fighting each other.

The block an AI will quote

For each money page, the map specifies the answer block: the passage that answers the buyer’s question in a form ChatGPT, Perplexity or AI Overviews can lift whole, with a specific claim, a fact that can be verified, and a matching entry in the page’s structured data. Pages that contain such a block are the pages that get cited.

Structured data as a mirror of the page

One organization record for the whole site, every human-facing fact twinned in machine-readable form, FAQ and service nodes on the pages that carry them, and cross-page references that let an AI system assemble the business as one entity. The map specifies the graph before a line of it is written.

The off-site footprint the engines weigh

Where AI engines look when they compile a shortlist: best-of lists, industry authority sites, review platforms, editorial press and community threads. The map names twenty or more qualified targets, the angle for each, and a ninety-day calendar, so the site’s on-page depth is matched by the mentions AI systems use to confirm it.

What you approve

The map is a document you read, not a ticket queue. It lists every page the site will have, what each must contain, the facts about your business that need your confirmation, and the order of the work with the reason for it. Your approval of the facts and the priorities is the only input the system needs from you.

Step 04

Rank Momentum: the plan becomes a website, and the website is measured

An audit you own is a document. Rank Intelligence Engine ends with a website that changed and evidence that it did. Because WordPress is our focus and specialty, every capability below ends on your live site.

Money pages built to the bar

Each homepage, service page or location page starts from the competitor pages for that exact service or area, the buyer language from Step 01 and the containment check from Step 03. The build includes the copy, the FAQs, the structured data, the internal links and the image specification. A page meets the bar of the pages already ranking on the day it goes live.

Supporting content that lifts the money pages

Twelve kinds of supporting article across three purposes: training the engines on what the site is about, covering the subject deeply, and demonstrating experience and trust. Articles are built in clusters that link sideways to each other and up to their money page, with every title checked so no article steals its own money page’s search.

Internal links and structured data installed, not recommended

The link changes from the Rank Gap Scan and the schema graph from the Authority Build Map are installed on the live WordPress site with exact anchors, exact placements and one organization record across every page.

On-page term balance

Once the copy exists, each money page is measured against the top-ranking pages for the terms it uses and the terms it lacks. Over-used terms are reduced first, because a page that repeats its own keyword above what any competitor does is suppressed rather than rewarded; then the field’s expected vocabulary is added, in body copy only, so the page reads naturally to a buyer and completely to the engine.

Verified, then reported

Every change is checked on the live page against what was planned, caches cleared, structured data validated, before it is reported as done. You are never told a change is live because it was ordered.

Measured by platform, question and date

AI visibility is baselined before the work and re-measured after it: citation counts per platform for your site and your competitors, plus a live probe of the questions that matter, recorded with the platform, the wording and the date. Google visibility is tracked daily on the searches the keyword map assigned. Reports separate what changed on the site, what the engines now show, and what your business recorded as inquiries.

Where it is applied

The same system behind every service

Rank Intelligence Engine is not a product you buy by the step. It is the system behind each of our services, and the service you choose decides which of its capabilities lead. Our AI SEO agency engagement runs all four steps on the whole site. AI search engine optimization leads with entity clarity, Knowledge Graph standing and citation readiness. The AI visibility audit is the Rank Gap Scan delivered as a stand-alone diagnosis. Answer engine optimization leads with prospect psychology and the answer block. Generative engine optimization leads with the citation footprint and measured AI visibility. Local AI SEO adds the map-pack and grid diagnostics. And because WordPress is our focus and specialty, every one of them ends in verified WordPress implementation.

Phil Belleville leads each engagement from Omaha, Nebraska, working with businesses across the United States. Ongoing services run month to month; audits are scoped as projects. You receive a written scope and price before any paid work begins.

Seven published records show the system at work across very different businesses: a special education law firm ranking statewide across California, a cell tower lease consultancy serving property owners nationwide, a paint protection film specialist in England, a family law firm and a wellness spa in Montana, a mobile outboard repair business in Fort Lauderdale, and a bathtub reglazing business in Los Angeles. Every figure in them is dated and measured on the same tracked terms. Read the case studies.

Before we talk

Your questions
Clear answers

What is Rank Intelligence Engine?

Rank Intelligence Engine is the proprietary system behind every AI Search Engine Optimization engagement. It combines 23 specialized analysis and implementation capabilities with Phil Belleville’s 30 years of SEO judgment, and applies them to one WordPress website in four steps: Intelligence, Rank Gap Scan, Authority Build Map and Rank Momentum.

How is it different from an SEO audit or an SEO tool?

A tool reports what it can measure on its own; an audit reports what one person found. Rank Intelligence Engine scores every finding against the competitors that already rank, decides the order of the work on evidence, and then installs and verifies the changes on the website. It ends with a site that changed, not a document.

Which AI platforms does it optimize for?

Google Search, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. The citation-readiness scan and the AI visibility measurement cover each of them separately, because they weigh the same evidence differently.

Does it work only on WordPress?

The analyses apply to any website. The implementation step is built for WordPress, which is our focus and specialty, so a WordPress business receives the whole system from diagnosis to verified change.

Will it keep my pages from competing with each other?

Yes. The site keyword map assigns each search to exactly one page, the Rank Gap Scan detects pages that already compete, and the Authority Build Map checks every planned title against every existing page before it is written.

Can you guarantee that ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews will name my business?

No. The platforms control their answers, and results vary with the question and its context. What we guarantee is the work: the readiness scan, the entity and citation footprint, the answer blocks, and a dated baseline and re-measurement so you can see whether the platforms name you and whether that is changing.

Do I need to understand SEO to work with you?

No. Every finding is explained in plain English with the business reason and the fix. You approve facts about your business and the priorities; the analysis and the implementation are our responsibility.
