Rank in Google. Get named by AI. Both measured every month.
Your customers still search Google, and they now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI which business to use. Winning one and losing the other costs you half the market. We do both halves as one job, through the Rank Intelligence Engine, and we hand you the numbers each month so you can see exactly which one moved.
Led by Phil Belleville, in search since 1995. AI SEO, AEO and GEO as one programme. Month to month, no contracts. No city pages for places you do not serve.

AI Search Engine Optimization is a United States AI SEO agency founded by Phil Belleville, a search practitioner since 1995. It gets businesses ranked in Google and cited by AI engines including ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot, using the Rank Intelligence Engine: a system that measures what the live algorithm and the AI engines reward right now, scans a client site and its competitors against that measurement, sequences the work, and reports rankings and citation counts every month.
Why Businesses That Ranked Last Year Are Invisible This Year
Something changed underneath the traffic, and most owners felt it before anyone explained it. The searches that used to bring people in now get answered above the results, or get answered somewhere else entirely, by an assistant that names two or three businesses and does the comparing on the customer’s behalf. Being the fourth name is the same as not existing. In the searches we captured while building this page, every commercial query we tested carried an AI answer above the organic results.
The businesses being named are not the biggest and rarely the cheapest. They are the ones the machines can verify. When an AI engine checks a company’s site, its structured data, its profiles and what third parties say, and finds the same facts everywhere, it can name that company with confidence. When it finds a phone number that appears three different ways, a services list last touched in 2021, and pages claiming a presence in cities where nobody has ever worked, it moves on to a company it can be sure about. Verification became a ranking factor and almost nobody told the people paying for SEO.
Most owners have already paid for the wrong fix, more than once. The twelve-month contract, the monthly report full of activity, the dashboard nobody reads, and no change in the phone. The tactics inside those packages were built for a search engine that no longer exists: directory submissions, purchased links, and stacks of near-identical city pages. Those tactics do not simply fail now. They actively hold a site down, because a site whose pages exist mostly for search engines gets rated down as a whole.
This site is the clearest example we can give you, because it is ours. In August 2026 it held zero Google rankings. Not low rankings. Zero, across every term, for a domain that had been publishing for eighteen months. The cause was exactly the pattern above: thirty-two city pages for places nobody worked, thirty-nine keyword pages published in a single day, a review rating that existed only in the code, and a contact identity borrowed from another company. Everything on this page describes what we did about it and what we do for clients, in that order.
The Rank Intelligence Engine: How We Work Out What the Algorithm Actually Wants
Every SEO agency claims to know what Google wants. Almost all of them learned it from each other, reading the same conference talks and the same blog posts, months after the fact. We stopped doing that. Instead we point AI systems at the live algorithm and at every major AI engine, continuously, across every site we work on, and measure what genuinely earns a ranking and a citation this month. Then we build exactly that.
That research runs whether or not anyone has hired us, which is why an engagement can start producing real work in week one. Four stages follow from it.
- Intelligence. Before a client ever calls us, AI systems are running against the live algorithm and against every major AI engine, continuously, measuring what actually earns a ranking and what actually earns a citation right now. Not what a conference talk said last year. This is the standing asset, and it is why we can start work in week one instead of spending a month working out what to do.
- Rank Gap Scan. Your site and the competitors beating you, measured against that intelligence, page by page and signal by signal. The output is not a score. It is the specific list of what they have that you do not, ranked by how much each item is costing you.
- Authority Build Map. The prioritized roadmap: what changes on the WordPress site, what content gets built, what entity and trust signals get fixed, and in what order. Sequenced so the things that move rankings fastest happen first, and so nothing gets built on a foundation that has not been repaired yet.
- Rank Momentum. Implementation, then measurement every month across Google rankings, Search Console performance and citation counts on seven AI engines, against a baseline taken before any work started. You see what moved, what did not, and what happens next.
The depth is the differentiator, and it is worth being specific about what that means. Forty-plus AI systems, each built for one piece of the work: keyword architecture, competitor profiling, entity verification, schema, internal linking, content structure, citation tracking. Thirty-one years of judgment deciding which findings matter and which are noise. The systems do the volume of analysis that used to require a team of ten. The judgment is what stops that volume from producing confident nonsense.
How the Rank Intelligence Engine Compares With What You Have Been Sold
| Dimension | The typical SEO retainer | The Rank Intelligence Engine |
|---|---|---|
| What the work starts from | A checklist of best practices, largely unchanged since 2019 | Continuous measurement of what the live algorithm and seven AI engines reward right now |
| What gets reported | Tasks completed, posts published, links built | Google rankings, Search Console performance and AI citation counts against a pre-work baseline |
| Who does the thinking | An account manager relays your file to whoever is free | Phil Belleville leads every engagement and writes the plan you read |
| How the work gets built | A junior applies a template to your site | AI systems execute against a written specification, with every change verified on the live page |
| Coverage | Google rankings only, with AI treated as a separate upsell | Google and AI answers treated as one job, because they draw on the same signals |
| Links | Monthly packages of purchased or networked links | Mentions earned by being worth mentioning, and nothing that has to be disavowed later |
| Contract | Twelve months, cancellation fees | Month to month; you keep everything built if you leave |

Where AEO and GEO Fit Inside AI SEO
Three acronyms get used interchangeably in this market and they are not the same thing. Getting them straight matters, because a business can be strong at one and invisible in the other two.
AI SEO is the umbrella: everything that makes a business findable across Google and the AI engines at once. It is the programme, and the other two sit inside it.
AEO, answer engine optimization, is the question layer. Customers no longer type fragments, they ask whole questions, and something answers before any list of links appears. AEO is the work of making your business the answer that Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and voice assistants give. It is mostly about structure: whether a specific question on your site has a specific, complete, quotable answer attached to it.
GEO, generative engine optimization, is the citation layer. When ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google AI Mode name businesses in an answer, they cite sources. GEO is the work of becoming one of those cited sources, and it depends less on your own pages than on whether independent places on the web corroborate what your pages claim.
The reason we run all three as one programme rather than three products is that they draw on the same underlying signals. A site that is verifiable, well structured and corroborated does well at all three. A site that is none of those things fails all three at once, and buying AEO alone will not rescue it.
Proof You Can Check Before You Call Us
Every claim on this page is one you can verify, and we would suggest applying that test to any agency you are considering. Phil Belleville has worked in search engine optimization since 1995 and founded Omaha SEO the same year; that agency is a Google Partner, holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, and still serves local service businesses today. He built and sold a website that held more than nine hundred top Google rankings. The marketing sites he runs rank at the top of their own city markets for the terms an agency has to win, in two of the largest forty cities in the country, which is the single best test to apply to anyone selling this work: does their own site do what they promise to do for yours?
The results are written down too, with dates and keywords, on the case studies page. The method is written down, above, in four stages you can hold us to. The measurement produces numbers you can reproduce on your own phone. And the person on the strategy call is the person who writes your plan. Read more about the agency or about Phil Belleville.
Two client engagements are documented in full, with every keyword, search volume, position and date recorded so you can check them yourself: read the AI SEO case studies.
Who We Work With, and Who We Turn Away
- You have a real business with something worth recommending, and you want the people already searching for it to find you.
- You have paid for SEO before and can no longer tell what you were paying for.
- You have asked an AI assistant for what you sell and watched it name somebody else.
- You want to read the plan, check the evidence and see the numbers, without learning a new vocabulary to do it.
- You would rather fix the reason you are not being named than buy a shortcut around it.
It is not a fit if you need guaranteed positions by a fixed date, if the plan is to rank a site that has nothing real behind it, or if you want the tactics that stopped working. In those cases we will say so on the call and point you at whatever would actually help, which is sometimes not us.
What We Will Not Do to Your Website
We do not build pages for cities where a business has no presence. We do not buy links or place them on networks. We do not put ratings or review counts into code that do not exist on the page. We do not publish content under names that are not real people. Every one of those tactics is still being sold today, and every one of them was present on this site before we rebuilt it. They are the reason it held zero rankings, and removing them was the first work we did.
What Gets Measured Every Month
Google rankings for every page that matters. Search Console impressions and clicks, page by page. Citation counts across seven AI engines, with the prompts included so you can check them yourself. The status of your business facts across your site, your profiles and your structured data. All of it against a baseline recorded before any work started, written so an owner can read it in ten minutes and know what happened, what it means and what comes next. The reporting layer is the same one we wrote about in our guide to tracking and reporting AI visibility.
AI SEO Questions Owners Ask Before They Call
What does an AI SEO agency actually do?
An AI SEO agency gets a business found in two places at once: the Google results page and the answers AI assistants give. Those used to be one job and are now two halves of one job, because both draw on the same underlying signals but weigh them differently. The work covers what is on your site, what structured data describes it to machines, what third parties say about you, and whether any of it can be verified. We run all of it through the Rank Intelligence Engine, which measures what the live algorithm and seven AI engines reward right now rather than what was true two years ago. If you want to see where you stand today, the strategy call is free and takes thirty minutes.
How is AI SEO different from traditional SEO?
Traditional SEO optimizes for a page of ten blue links. AI SEO optimizes for that page plus the answer an assistant gives instead of it. The difference in practice is verification. A search engine can rank a page it is unsure about and let the searcher decide. An AI assistant that names your business is putting its own credibility behind you, so it will only do that when it can confirm the same facts from several independent places. That makes consistency, structure and third-party corroboration into ranking factors, not nice-to-haves. A site can hold position four in Google and never once be named by ChatGPT, and most sites we look at are exactly there.
What is the difference between AI SEO, AEO and GEO?
AI SEO is the umbrella programme; AEO and GEO are two layers inside it. AEO, answer engine optimization, is about being the answer a customer gets when they ask a whole question of Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT or a voice assistant, and it is largely a structural job on your own pages. GEO, generative engine optimization, is about being one of the sources those engines cite, which depends heavily on what independent places on the web say about you. Most agencies sell these as three separate products. We run them as one programme because they draw on the same signals, and because a site that fails the underlying verification test fails all three at once no matter which one you pay for.
Do I need AEO and GEO, or is AI SEO enough?
If AI SEO is being done properly, AEO and GEO are already inside it, so you should not be buying them separately. The test is what gets measured. An AI SEO programme that reports only Google rankings is not covering the answer or citation layers, whatever it is called, and you will find that out when a competitor starts getting named by ChatGPT and you do not. Ask any agency you are considering for their citation counts by engine, with the prompts, so you can check them. We report seven engines every month against a baseline taken before the work started, which is the only way to know whether the AEO and GEO halves are actually moving.
What is the Rank Intelligence Engine?
It is our system for working out what the algorithm actually wants, then building it. Rather than reading what other agencies publish about Google, we run AI systems against the live algorithm and the major AI engines continuously, across every site we work on, and measure what genuinely earns a ranking and a citation. That research exists before you call us. Your engagement then runs in three further stages: a Rank Gap Scan measuring your site and your competitors against it, an Authority Build Map sequencing the work, and Rank Momentum for implementation and monthly measurement. It is the reason we can begin real work in week one instead of spending a month deciding what to do.
Do you work with businesses outside your area?
Yes. We work with businesses across the United States and the work runs entirely online: a scheduled call each month, email in between, and everything delivered in writing. We deliberately publish no city pages, because pages claiming a presence in places a business does not operate are the single most common reason we see sites demoted, and we will not build them for you either. If you are a local business, your location pages get built only for the places you actually serve, with the proof on the page that shows it. If you sell nationally, no location pages get built at all, and the work goes into the service and answer pages that a buyer anywhere in the country would search for.
How long before we see results?
Foundation work shows in weeks; rankings and citations compound over months. Structural fixes to schema, verification and site architecture typically register with Google inside two to four weeks. New or rebuilt pages usually begin earning impressions within eight to twelve weeks of going live. AI citations lag furthest behind, because assistants draw on third-party sources that have to notice you first; first citations generally appear within two quarters. A site with a clean history moves faster than one carrying a decade of accumulated problems. We give you a timeline for your specific situation on the first call and then report against it every month, including the months where something did not move.
What does an engagement include?
Every engagement runs the four stages of the Rank Intelligence Engine. You get the Rank Gap Scan showing exactly where you stand against the competitors beating you, the Authority Build Map sequencing the work, the implementation itself, and a monthly report you can read in ten minutes. Deliverables arrive as written pages and written plans, not dashboards. You are never asked to approve a strategy you cannot see the evidence for. The first month is research and foundation; the pages start in month two. Most engagements need about an hour of your time in the first fortnight, mostly to confirm facts about your business that the web cannot confirm on its own.
How do you measure whether AI assistants name my business?
With counts, monthly, per engine. We record how many times ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Grok cite your site or name your business for the prompts your customers actually use, against a baseline taken before any work starts. You also get the prompts themselves, so you can run them on your own phone and see the same answers we report. Most agencies cannot tell you this number because they have never measured it. It is the difference between a program measured against outcomes and one measured against how busy the agency looked last month, and it is the number we would want to see first if we were buying this.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No, and nobody honest does. Google will not sell a position and neither will any AI engine, so any agency promising position one by a date is either misleading you or planning to rank you for something nobody searches. What we do commit to is this: you see the evidence behind every recommendation before we act on it, you get measured results every month including the bad ones, and the engagement runs month to month so you can stop whenever the numbers stop justifying it. In thirty-one years that has proved a far better arrangement than a guarantee nobody can keep, and it puts the risk where it belongs, on us.
What if we already have an SEO agency?
Many people book the call for exactly that reason. You get an independent read on where you stand and what is actually being done, and we will tell you plainly if what you have is working, because sometimes it is. If it is not, you will know why in specific terms rather than vague ones: which pages are competing with each other, which signals are missing, which of the work you are paying for has no measurable effect. What you do with that is your business. Some people take it back to their existing agency and get better results from them, which is a perfectly good outcome for everyone involved.
What kinds of businesses do you work with?
Local service businesses whose customers search nearby, online stores that need product and collection pages to show up, business-to-business companies whose buyers now research vendors through AI tools before ever filling in a form, and WordPress site owners who want the site they already have to carry more of the load. The common thread is a real business with something worth recommending. We do not take work whose only purpose is to rank a page that has nothing behind it, because that work no longer holds, and we say so on the first call rather than three months in. Size matters less than you would expect: a two-person contractor and a forty-person manufacturer need the same four stages run in the same order.
Who actually does the work?
Phil Belleville leads every engagement personally, from the first call through to the monthly report. He has worked in search since 1995 and founded Omaha SEO the same year. The research and the execution run on AI systems he built and directs, more than forty of them, each encoding a specific piece of the work. That combination is the point: the systems do the volume of analysis and drafting that used to need a team, and thirty-one years of judgment decides what to act on. There is no account manager between you and the person doing the thinking, and no rotating pool of contractors touching your site.
How do we start with an AI SEO engagement?
With a free thirty-minute strategy call. Before it, we look at where your site currently ranks, whether the AI engines cite you or name a competitor instead, and what the single biggest structural problem is. On the call you get that read in plain English and your questions answered directly. If there is a fit, you receive a written proposal naming the work, the timeline and the price. If there is not, you keep the read and are free to act on it however you like. Nothing is decided on the call itself; most people take a few days and ask follow-up questions by email before deciding either way.
Find Out Where Your Site Actually Stands in Google and AI
Thirty minutes, no charge, no obligation. Before the call we look at where your site ranks in Google, whether the AI engines name you or a competitor, and what the biggest structural problem is. On the call you get that read in plain English. Afterwards you either have a proposal or you have a free diagnosis you can act on yourself. Both are useful outcomes.
Book your free strategy call, or send us your website address and we will reply within one business day.
